Our brain is the most advanced computing system in the known universe. It demands a supply of  purposeful tasks to stay active. Even playing virtual reality games serves the purpose.

It is evolutionarily tested that  virtual reality (  whether that be computer games, religious myths or unbridled consumerism ) saves our species in such situations.

Virtual reality is not always encased inside an isolated box. Both religion and consumerism serve as virtual reality games. If you forget to pray, you lose points. If you can’t buy BMW, you lose points.

These ‘deep’ players of virtual reality game report higher levels of life-satisfaction than any other section of Israeli society. Even in

Up to Newton’s time, we had been treating ourselves as  localized lumps of mass-energy moving about in space over time. Einstein’s special relativity first assumed us as  long and narrow 4-dimensional tubes, branched with similar other tubes (manifested as our contacts with other objects,  people, consuming food, and excretions) at various points.

In Einstein’s relativity, birth is nothing but branching out from our mother-tube.

In Einstein’s  general theory of relativity, gravity is a change in the geometry of spacetime near where 4-dimensional  tubes are present.

Since the geometry of spacetime can change even in empty space, reality is more than 4-dimensional tubes. We need quantum mechanics to identity this extra ‘thing’ with fucctuaing quantum fields obeying Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle.

What is the fundamental nature of cosmos/life/consciousness?

At this stage of our scientific knowledge, many questions, as a matter of physics, are unanswerable. It is an existential  bliss/duty to speculate over all possible memetic models able to somehow answer such questions!

At this stage of our species’ memetic maturity, we use two ( not only separate but also contradictory! ) memetic models for understanding reality. Yes,  General Relativity and Quantum Mechanics are just memetic models!

Geometrical lines are mathematical memes/maps/models/abstractions 

of straight paths in the Universe.

Our memetic maps of  reality are never wrong but limited to  their area of applicability. Even Ptolemy’s geocentric astronomy helped to predict positions of the celestial bodies efficiently. Copernicus’s heliocentric model  just generalized such predictions. Newton’s gravity or Einstein’s spacetime curvature gave more and more general maps of our cosmic reality. There is no limit to such generalization until we  know the ultimate nature of reality (theory of everything ?).

‘Computronium’ is a theoretical arrangement of matter that is computationally  most capable for that amount of matter. Our consciousness might be a sort of ‘instant computronium state’ of our co-ordinated body. It is not binary but varies within range allowed by Tegmarkian network -the fundamental censorship constraining chaos as well as  abracadabra.

A photon is the smallest quantifiable unit of light that stays in a superposition (exists both as a particle and a wave at the same time) before someone measures it to determine a particular alignment.

Even after determining a particular alignment, the photon still stays in a superposition if the second observer is kept unaware of the first’s measurement. As a result, each observer can get  a different alignment representing different reality.

In double-slit experiment, an electromagnetic field might fill the entire the entire Universe to ‘know’ that there are two slits there. No particle but a disturbance or new  information is transacted in field’s ledger-book. What is ‘detected’ as a photon is the removal of one quantum or packet of energy from the field. Only ‘disturbances in the media’ i.e.  transmissible information give birth to our so-called reality. Recent quantum-Darwinism and Wigner’s friend experiments dismissing any shared objective reality (that can exist on its own) are in line with such ‘media-born/transmitted/selected/ subjective/memetic reality’.

In Zurek’s quantum Darwinism, the definite properties(position, speed, spin direction, etc. ) associated with classical physics get naturally selected from a menu of quantum possibilitie(states) since information about robust states get copied,  transmitted and reproduced   fundamentally by  electromagnetic field and apparently  by environmental photons. Since   information about a quantum system gets repeatedly imprinted on our so-called environments, many independent observers agree on a measured value — a hallmark of classicality!

Electromagnetic field itself is ‘not a thing’ to be seen but medium/wire/default canvas / picture-tube/channel. Changes or distortions on electromagnetic field propagate as signals to make the the world ‘visible’.
